Mary T. Glessner, 95, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Monday, April 25, 2022, at her home.
She was born on June 7, 1926, in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Prokovich) Tuorinsky and married Roger L. Glessner on July 16, 1948, in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2007.
Mary worked as a seamstress mainly at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, as well as several of the former local garment manufacturer’s in the Shippensburg area.
She was a long-time, active and involved member of the Shippensburg First Church of God. As a strong Christian, Mary frequently extended encouragement to and offered prayers for others. She was a faithful prayer warrior. Mary also led by example by crocheting blankets for the local pregnancy ministries and homeless population.
Aside from crocheting, Mary also enjoyed doing puzzle books and word search until her eyesight started to fail. Her family was her most cherished possession and Mary was recognized as the glue that held them all together. A loving spouse, caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mary is survived by her son, Roger D. Glessner and wife Lois Ann of Mercersburg; two daughters, Donna Cheely and husband (Lewis) of McDonough, GA, and Rebecca L. Lehman of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Cody Lehman and Benjamin and Joel Glessner; three step-children, Anna Ferguson, Jacob Cheely, and Melinda (Chad) Sims; six step-great grandchildren, Ayden, Lahela, and Reese Miles, Connor, McKenna, and Daniel Sims, and one soon on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and spouse, Mary was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Gary Hornbaker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Viewing will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
