Mary A. Cooper, 78, of Goodhart Road, Shippensburg, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the Gettysburg Lutheran Home.
Born Thursday, March 23, 1933 in Peoria, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Samuel and Clestie Ruth Short Mease.
Mary was a 1951 graduate of Camp Hill High School. She was a member of the Hope Reformed Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg where she helped to conduct GED classes and assisted the church secretary with various duties. Mary enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint and loved reading and pet sitting.
Surviving are four sons, Gary C. Cooper and his wife Bertha of Newport, Michael C. Cooper and his wife Linda of Aspers, Mark J. Cooper and his wife Tammy of Biglerville and Matthew S. Cooper and his wife Leanne of Bendersville, two daughters, Melinda L. Piper and her husband Galen of Boiling Springs and Melody R. Lintner and her husband Michael of Shippensburg, two brothers, Eldon Mease and his wife Alice of Newville and Thomas J. Mease of New Cumberland, one sister, Barbara Hersh of Eatonton, Georgia, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman M. Cooper who died in November of 1996, a granddaughter, Kristie Piper and a brother Donald Mease.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Dr. David J. Fidati officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
