Mary Ann Carr, 71, of Shippensburg, PA, formerly of Harrisonburg, VA, died on Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Carlisle Hospital.
She was born on April 4, 1940, in Harrisonburg, VA, the daughter of the late Jay Allen and Myrna Dorman. On July 8, 1957, Mary Ann married Mr. Carter H. Carr, Sr. in Waynesboro, VA.
In her earlier years, Mary Ann worked for the City of Harrisonburg, as an administrative assistant, and after her family moved to Shippensburg, she worked for the Shippensburg University Book Store, until retirement.
Mary Ann was a member of the Big Spring Church of God, Newville, PA. She was an avid reader and she loved all animals, especially her cats.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carter H. Carr, Sr.; two daughters, Gayle Johnson of Fulton, MO and Joyce Farrow of Shippensburg; two sons, Carter H. Carr, Jr. of Dundalk, MD and Clint Carr of Harrisonburg, VA; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one aunt; and one niece.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Dorman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the McMullen Funeral Home, Inc., Harrisonburg, VA. Interment will follow in the Gospel Hill Mennonite Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday afternoon January 22 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg and Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 7:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. in the McMullen Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, VA.
