Mary L. Burkholder, 93, of Shippensburg, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at home.
She was born November 6, 1921 in Walnut Bottom, Cumberland County. Mary was a daughter of the late Simon E. and Viola C. Beecher Russell. Her husband, Lester D. Burkholder died January 8, 2005. Mary also was preceded in death by one son, David Lee Burkholder and one brother, Lee Russell.
She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg. Mary retired from the former Gordon’s Department Store in Shippensburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce A. (Mrs. Carroll E.) Kann of Avon, CT, and Ann M. (Mrs. Randolph W.) Gallas of Beavercreek, OH, two sisters, Ruth Buzzard of Honeybrook, PA, and Helen Markwood of Wildwood, NJ, seven grandchildren, Sheri Burkholder Croft, Dirk Kann, Lisa Kann, Tina Gallas Stonecypher, Melissa Gallas, Bryan Burkholder, and Jenna Gallas Hubbs, eleven great grandchildren, Alyssa Albright, Jillyan Stum, Jordan Albright, Taylor Kann, Ally Kann, Katherine Stonecypher, Alison Stonecypher, Ian Hubbs, Griffin Burkholder, Camille Burkholder, and Owen Burkholder, six great-great grandchildren, Brooklyn Albright, Arcry O’Donnell, Dredyn Kipe, Kyric Kipe, Parker Seeders, and Paxton Seeders, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services in the funeral home Monday morning.
