Mary A. Bowermaster, 77, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Friday, September 27, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Monday, May 19, 1947 in Mount Union, Huntingdon County, a daughter of the late Charles J. Shields, Sr. and Demmie A. Geyer McKee. She married Roy N. “Tiny” Bowermaster on September 24, 1976. He preceded her in death just one month ago on August 27, 2024.
Taking family vacations to the beach brought her great happiness in life. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and loved watching gameshows; always enthusiastically shouting out the correct answers. Mary enjoyed putting puzzles together and was an excellent cook and baker. Above all else, she was a dedicated homemaker, who lovingly cared after her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family was her greatest pride and joy in life.
She is survived by her three children, Jerry L. (Tammy) Shields of Shippensburg, Janie S. Perry of Shippensburg, and Sherry A. Acre of Gettysburg; six grandchildren, Josh H. Perry of Winder, GA, Alan M. Sterner of Chambersburg, Tiffany A. Frey, Natasha L. Shields, Cameron N. Sterner, and Brandon R. Shields, all of Shippensburg; two great-grandchildren, Tabor Q. and Torryn R. Frey; and two brothers, Charles J. Shields, Jr. of Shippensburg and William J. Shields of Florida.
In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Leona M. Marpoe, Thomas M. Shields, and Kenneth W. Shields.
