Maruja Alvarez Hudgins, 84, a resident of Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in the home.
She was born December 10, 1928 in Pola de Lena, Spain. Maruja was a daughter of the late Jose Carlos and Nieves Castanon Alvarez.
She was the owner and operator of the former Ana’s Consignment Shop in Rockville, Maryland.
Maruja is survived by three children, Jesse E. Hudgins, III of Clovis, California, Robert G. Hudgins and his wife Cindy of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, and Mary N. Colburn and her husband Dave of Mt. Airy, Maryland; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
A private memorial service will be held at the Whiskey Creek Country Club in Maryland.
