Martha R. Walker, 81, of Walnut Bottom, died on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at her home.

Born on February 21, 1929 in Cumberland County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Clara Zell Young.

On January 10, 1948, Martha married Mr. Sylvester B. “Pete” Walker in Newville, PA. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2001.

Martha was a homemaker throughout her life. A member of the Centerville Lutheran Church, she loved her family, cooking, baking, her flower gardens, being outdoors, and vacations to the beach.

She is survived by two sons; Michael A. Walker of Walnut Bottom, and Ronald L. (Carolyn) Walker of Newville; five daughters, Deborah (William) Barrick of Newville, Kathleen (Ernie) Burkholder of Thompsontown, Hope (Fred Lambert) Manning of Walnut Bottom, Patricia (David) Owens of Bentleyville, and Donna (Mike Brooks) Walker of Newville; five sisters, Margaret Mellinger, Mary Dietch, Dorothy Kepner, Emily Hoover, and Reba Wert; three brothers, Marlin Young, Donald Young, and Clarence Young, Jr.; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, ten step-great grandchildren, two step-great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her loving caregivers, Anna Smith and Pat Eutzy.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth B. Walker, two sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Centerville Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert P. Knight will officiate. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., 112 W. King St. Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the service, at church, on Thursday.
