Martha J. Minor, 74, of Shippensburg, died on the afternoon of Sunday, January 26, 2014, at her home.
She was born on December 6, 1939, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Harvey N. and Anna C. Morrison Diehl. Martha was a 1959 graduate of Shippensburg Senior High School. On July 23, 1966, she married John J. Minor. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2007, after forty years of marriage.
Martha was employed at the former Hoffman Mills, Shippensburg, where she worked as a Weaver and Spare Hand, retiring in 2004, after 40 years of employment. She was awarded Employee of the Month in June 1994 and August 2004.
She was a long-time member of the Shippensburg First Church of God. In her leisure time, Martha liked to travel, garden, cook, bake, and shop. She was very fond of animals, especially horses and dogs, both of which she kept quite a few of over the years. Martha always really enjoyed reunions and other family functions.
She is survived by three sisters, Janet E. Mowery of Carlisle, Nancy M. (Dallas) Garman of Shippensburg, and Anna L. (W. Theodore) Noel of Lanham, MD; two brothers, Edgar N. Diehl of Chambersburg and Harvey A. (Florence) Diehl of Shippensburg; step-daughter, Teresa A. (Dennis) Lehman of Shippensburg; two step-granddaughters, Alisha (Steve) Todd and Kendra (Nathan) Wiser, both of Shippensburg; sister-in-law, Joanne Diehl of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by one brother, Mervin O. Diehl.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. William E. Myers will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
