Martha W. Martin

Martha W. Martin, 75, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at her home.

She was born on Friday, January 14, 1949 in Ephrata, PA, a daughter of the late Martin S. and Esther B. Weaver Shirk. Martha married J. David Martin on November 17, 1970.

Martha was a member of the Shippensburg Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. 

In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by three sons, James (LouElla) Martin of Newville, Nelson (Brenda) Martin of Shippensburg, and Harold (Linda) Martin of Shippensburg; four daughters, Ruth (Wilson) Reiff, Wilma (Lawrence) Zimmerman, Lois (Lawrence Ray) Martin, and Susan (Mark) Zimmerman, all of Shippensburg; 45 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Eli (Anna Z.) Shirk of Mifflinburg; and one sister, Mary (late Alvin) Leid of Martindale. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Shirk and Clarence Shirk; and four sisters, Susie Shirk, Edna Martin, Esther Shirk, and Ruth Shirk. 

Her funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Shippensburg Old Order Mennonite Church on Duncan Road, Shippensburg. The church ministry will officiate. Interment will occur in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Martin residence, 202 Mud Level Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.

Her family kindly requests the omission of flowers.
