Martha L. Jones, 90, life-long resident of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Thursday, March 9, 2017.
She was born on November 18, 1926, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Jerry C. and Violet Fitzgerald Thomas, Sr. Martha was a 1944 graduate of Shippensburg High School and married William C. Jones on July 2, 1949, in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1987.
Martha was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God and its KYB Sunday School class. Martha also belonged to the Christian Women’s Club and the former Junior Civic Club. She was a former Brownie Troop Leader and in her free time enjoyed sewing, crafts, decorating, and gardening.
Martha is survived by her daughters, Jeanne C. Jones of Hagerstown, MD and Carole A. Keiter and husband Terry of Shippensburg; her grandson, Matthew S. Brenize and wife Tina of Indian Trail, NC; two great granddaughters, Kailey and Emily Brenize; one great grandson, Logan Brenize; one brother; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Her funeral services, entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, will be private. Interment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pastor Jim Rogers and Mr. Gary Hornbaker will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg First Church of God at 121 East King St. Shippensburg, PA 17257
