Marjorie Killian

December 24, 1929 — February 7, 2024

Marjorie E. Killian, 94, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation & Wellness Center, Chambersburg.

She was born on December 24, 1929, in Orrstown, a daughter of the late Wendell M. and Elsie M. (Hoover) Shoop. Marjorie married Paul J. Killian on July 24, 1948, in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2017.

Marjorie worked as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company, Chambersburg, for fifteen years and the former Greif Co., Shippensburg, for sixteen years, retiring in 1992. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orrstown. Marjorie was also a member of the Orrstown AARP; Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168; Path Valley Stag Club Auxiliary; Cumberland Valley Rug Hookers; Tri-State Weekenders; and a past member of the Mason Dixon Campers Club.

Throughout her life she enjoyed camping, salt water fishing on vacation at the inlets, BINGO, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Marjorie had a standing dinner invitation every Tuesday evening at her home for her family. She would do it all; cook a big meal, clean-up, and then invite everyone to play cards, which she was really good at, but was also known to sometimes cheat a little too.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Rowles and husband Ed of Chambersburg; her son, Larry Killian and wife Shirley of Walnut Bottom; four grandchildren, Lonny (Tammy) Killian, Jimmie (Corine) Killian, Bobby (Renee) Mears, and Aaron Killian; five great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by seven brothers, Wendell Jr., Harold, Don, Kenneth, Garnet, Joe, and Lee Shoop; two sisters, Bernita Vaughn and Betty Clever; a granddaughter, Kimmie Mears, who was involved in a bicycle accident in 1986; and a great grandson, Mason Killian, who died of cancer at 21 months old in 1998.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orrstown. The Rev. William DeHass will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday afternoon.
