Marion “Red” Caudill, 94 a resident of the Orrstown Personal Care Home, Orrstown, joined his wife in heaven, on the morning of Monday, February 13, 2012, at the Personal Care Home.
He was born on July 12, 1917, in Roxana, KY, a son of the late Willie and Armelda Frazier Caudill. Red was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, a member of the Seventh Armored Division of “the “Lucky 7th”, enlisting on September 13, 1940, in Jackson MS, and honorably discharged on September 25, 1945, in Camp Shelby, MS.
On April 21, 1944, Red married Ms. Hazel G. Vaughn in Taunton, MA. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2010.
Red worked as an Identifier/Classifier at the Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1978.
He was a long time member of the Mongul United Brethren Church.
Red is survived by two sons, Donald (Connie Kendig) Caudill and Robert (Linda Runshaw) Caudill of Shippensburg; one daughter, Arlene (Paul) Brown of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the Mongul United Brethren Church. The Rev. Rocky W. Spear will officiate. Interment with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday morning, at church.
