Zinn, Bonnell Marie, 70, of Newville, PA, born November 6, 1951 in Huntingdon County died on November 24, just weeks after the joyful celebration of both her seventieth birthday and her retirement in the company of dear family and friends.
Survived by her adoring husband of 48 years, John Zinn; two children, Justin (Amy) and Tanya Zinn; two grandchildren, Shannein Raudabaugh and Justin (Katie) Bell; three great grandchildren, Cole and Emmalyn Bell and Zayleigh McGraw; and a brother, Darrell (Paula) Downin and nephew, Colton Downin. Preceded in death by her parents, Dick Downin and Lorna McConaughey Downin and her in-laws, Elwood J. Zinn and Jane Kendall Zinn.
A 1969 graduate of Southern Huntingdon County High School, Bonnell enjoyed a long, successful, and happy career as a geriatric nurse, spanning three institutions and more than forty years, with the final 21 years devoted to the care of residents at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle, many of whom she intended to visit and read to into her retirement. She attended church at Grand Point Church in Chambersburg, Pa. Back home on Whiskey Run Road, Bonnell was enthusiastically devoted to her family, including the four-legged members, always eager to cook a meal to bring to a picnic and content to stay, sharing stories and a laugh, until the very end.
Funeral services will be on December 11, 2021 at Green Spring First Church of God, Newville, Pa. Visitation starts at 10am and services start at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bonnell’s memory to The Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home Benevolent Fund, 1000 West South Street, Carlisle, Pa. 17013.
