Marie Adeline Myers

Marie Adeline Myers, 90, of Shippensburg, died on March 4, 2011 at Swaim Health Center, Newville.
Born on May 25, 1920, at the family farm in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Sarah Helen Ocker Cramer, Sr. She was a 1938 graduate of the Shippensburg Area High School and a 1942 graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College.
On February 1, 1947, Marie married Mr. Glenn C. Myers at the Shippensburg First Church of God. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1985.
Marie was a homemaker and teacher. She taught eight grades, at a one room school house, in Churchtown from 1943 until 1945. Also, she taught elementary grades, as a substitute, at the Big Spring School District in the 50’s and 60’s.
She was a longtime member of the Shippensburg First Church of God, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years, and was a past president of the Leah K. Becker Missionary Society. She was a charter member of the Cumberland County Farm Women Group #10, formed in 1948, a past county president, and was active in the group until her death. Her favorite leisure activity was riding her bicycle along the country roads around her home.
Marie is survived by her two sons, Harold E. (Joyce) Myers and Philip C. (Bonnie) Myers, both of Shippensburg; her son-in-law, David Ritter of Burkittsville, MD; two brothers, J. Calvin (Gladys) Cramer and Clarence E. (Lena) Cramer, Jr., both of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Marie Ritter, who died on January 15, 2001 and her sister, Beatrice Strock.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Shippensburg First Church of God. The Rev. Paul L. Tatum will officiate. Interment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Shippensburg First Church of God, and one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
