Margie Ann Shinn, 83, of Chambersburg, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born January 26, 1934 in Elmore, Ohio, Margie was a daughter of the late Edward R. and Margarthe C. (Depner) Fillmore.

Margie worked for 31 years for the U.S. Government, first at Rossford Army Depot in Rossford, Ohio and transferred to Letterkenny Army Depot in June 1963. She retired as a computer operator February 4, 1988. Margie was a 1952 graduate of the Harris Elmore High School in Elmore, Ohio. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Orrstown, and the former Orrstown Lions Club, during which time she became a Melvin Jones and also a PA Lions Fellow.

Margie married John Winfield Shinn on April 17, 1964 in Hagerstown, MD, he preceded her in death on December 14, 2006. They enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states at least once along with 14 foreign countries. She enjoyed taking her grandsons to movies after the death of her husband. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ann Hameister, a step son, Daniel Lee Shinn, four sisters, Angeline Fillmore, Violet Sandrock, Velma Lemke and Carol Mehall and three brothers, Robert, Wilbert and Emerson Fillmore.

Margie is survived by two sons, John W. (Chong Mi) Shinn, II and Arthur H. (Dolores) Hameister, Jr., three daughters, Sharon A. (David) Schelle, Gail S. Hartig and Patricia S. Hameister, a step daughter, Bonita K. (Barry) Kelly, eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a brother, Luther (Rella) Fillmore, a sister, Joyce Willis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg with The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating. Burial will be held in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
