Margaret Shoap

Margaret J. “Peg” Shoap, 97, formerly of Shippensburg, departed this life on January 15, 2024, in Lakeland, FL, where she had resided since 1985.

She was born on July 3, 1926, in Chambersburg, the daughter of the late Howard C. and Pearl E. (Allison) Jones. Peg was a 1945 graduate of Gettysburg High School and a 1950 graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College.

Peg was a retired secretary and had worked for the late George H. Stewart of Shippensburg. She also worked at the University of Texas School of Law, Austin TX, and in the office of the Borough of Shippensburg. Peg was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg, for over fifty years.

She is survived by her brother, Harold T. Jones of Chambersburg, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Shoap, who died on April 30, 2015, and their daughter, Donna R. Shoap.

Her graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. The Rev. George W. Heckard will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
