Margaret Ann Pletcher, 94, a resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville, died on the morning of Thursday, September 26, 2013.
She was born on August 15, 1919, in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Catherine Thomas Allison. Margaret was a member of the Newville Church of the Brethren. She was a 1937 graduate of Ferndale High School and then went on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from the Windber Hospital School of Nursing. She married Rev. Ordo M. Pletcher in 1939.
As a minister’s wife, Margaret served along-side her husband for over 60 yearsin numerous Church of the Brethren congregations throughout South Central Pennsylvania. She also had her own career as an R.N.; was an evaluator for Goodwill Industries; a teacher’s aide in the Big Spring School District; and had worked in the Human Resource Department of Ingersoll Rand.
She is survived by her three sons, Randall M. (Donna) Pletcher of Newville, Trent (Clarene) Pletcher of Enola, and Reid A. (Linda) Pletcher of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles E. Allison and James Allison of Johnstown.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ordo M. Pletcher, who died on September 10, 2001, and one brother, John “Jack” Allison.
Her funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Ridge Church of the Brethren, Shippensburg. The Rev. Earl K. Zeigler and Rev. John F. Hess will officiate. Interment will follow in the Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., on Monday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newville Church of the Brethren at 16 Carlisle Road Newville, PA 17241.
