Margaret A. "Margie" Clark, 95, of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully of natural causes with family at her side in Hagerstown, Maryland on April 23, 2013.
She was born 'the 5th child, on the 5th day of the 5th month,' May 5, 1917, at home, 118 North Prince St. in Shippensburg, to the late Charles A. and Grace I. Myers Clark. Margaret was a graduate of Shippensburg High School and loved attending her class reunions until their discontinuation.
Margaret was employed by the U.S. Army, DESCOM, at the Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service, which included WWII support.
She was a life-long member of the Shippensburg Presbyterian Church and attended its Prime Timers Class; a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Local #1063; a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 Ladies Auxiliary, Shippensburg, the Shippensburg Civic Club, Shippensburg Historical Society, and also volunteered at the Chambersburg Hospital.
An avid gardener, she planted and nurtured trees, bushes, flowers and vegetables on her large property to create a beautiful, terraced landscape; a view enjoyed by all who visited her.
Margaret was the last member of her immediate family and the end of a long line of Clarks residing in central Pennsylvania for the last 300 years. Margaret leaves nieces and nephews who cherish their dear Aunt's memory: Connie Clark (Richard) Walker of FL, David Clark (Linda) Taylor of MO, Arthur Robert "Bob" (Renee) Taylor of VA, Diane Taylor (Dennis) Stout of MO, Michael Joseph (Norma) Taylor of MO, Edward Charles (Judy) Taylor of MD, Mary Patricia Clark (Angelo) Puccinelli of FL, Suzanne Clark (Frank) Rebro of CA, Ron (Jean) Clark of ME, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews who treasured her. Margaret will forever be remembered for her strength, sense of commitment, orderliness, and frugality and especially for her wonderful zest for life and keen sense of humor.
