Margaret Louise Alleman, 96, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of the Shippensburg area, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
She was born September 24, 1917 in Quincy, PA. Margaret was a daughter of the late Albert S. and Della Myers Snyder.
Margaret was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hall, PA for many years and now the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, FL. She served with the Army Nurse Corp in the European Theater during World War II. Margaret then worked as a Private Duty and Staff Nurse, retiring from the Chambersburg Hospital in 1979. She was a former member for many years of the local, state, and American Nurses Associations. Margaret was a graduate of the former Quincy High School and Bryn Mawr Hospital of Nursing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Foust Alleman who died February 24, 2007. Margaret was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold Snyder, and two sisters, Pauline Schnabel and Kathleen Hartman.
She is survived by two sons, H. Wayne Alleman, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and Lee A. Alleman (Carol) of Vail, CO, two brothers, Earl E. Snyder of Chambersburg, PA and Robert A. Snyder of Shady Grove, PA, two sisters, Mildred E. Geesaman of Longmont, CO, and Lois G. George of Winter Haven, FL, two step grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Harold E. Yeager. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg American Legion and VFW Posts will be in Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
