Dr. Magdalene N (Papoutsis) Clouser peacefully passed away of a stroke at age 80 in Hudson, FL with her two children sitting vigil beside her.
Dr. Maggie was born in Chambersburg, PA on June 21, 1944 to the late Nicholas D. and Maria Alpoyanis Papoutsis. She graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1962. She married and moved to Baltimore then Drexel Hill then the Allentown area. After having two children, she returned to school at North Hampton Community College receiving a Dental Hygiene degree in 1976 and started working as a hygienist in West Reading. In 1985, at the age of 41, she pursued her life-long dream of becoming a dentist. She graduated from the Temple University School of Dentistry in 1989 and opened her own practice in Wyomissing, PA. In 2020, at the age of 76, she suffered health issues which led her to close her practice after 32 years in 2021.
She loved dentistry, collecting antiques, and watching the stock market. It was often joked that her love of dentistry matched that of the character Herbie from the Christmas special Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Her passion for investing led her to organizing the Local Ladies Investment Club which was a source of camaraderie for approximately 20 years.
Maggie is survived by her son, Michael L Clouser, and her daughter, Maria Nicole Clouser and husband Jeffrey Samarizya. She was loved by them, her brother, James Papoutsis, her sister, Cecelia Masney and husband John Masney, her sister-in-law Ettie Papoutsis, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Zoe P. McCleaf and Dr. Thomas N. Papoutsis.
