Mabel Shoap

Mabel V. Shoap, 93, of Newville, Road, Newburg, died Monday, February 20, 2012 in the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born Thursday, August 15, 1918 in Shade Gap, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Harry F. and Elsie Covert Mentzer.
Mabel became a member of the Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in 1952. She retired from the Newburg School District in 1978 as a cook after 12 years of service. Mabel worked at the Stanley Company for 14 years prior to working for the school district. She loved crocheting, knitting and building puzzles.
Surviving are one sister, Phyllis Hurst of Fayetteville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Shoap who died in November of 1980 and a step-son Donald Shoap.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Mary Jane King officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
