Louise G. Powell, 82, of Orrstown, died on Friday, April 30, 2010 with her family by her side.
Born on February 10, 1928, in Macleod, Canada, a daughter of the late Victor and Nellie Diggory Thelin.
On December 22, 1958, Louise married Mr. Donald R. Powell. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1993.
Louise was a homemaker and a loving mother. She took great pride in raising her children as well as maintaining her home. Louise loved taking care of her cats. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, writing letters to her family and friends, and cooking. No one ever left her table hungry.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori A. Powell and her companion Michael Dangler of Orrstown; two sons, Donald R. (Danita) Powell, II of Chambersburg and Victor Vest of Louisiana; her granddaughter, Amy Vest of Louisiana; and a sister, Irene Smith of Utah.
She was preceded in death by one son, Douglas W. Powell, one brother and several sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Ronald S. McElwee will officiate. Interment will be in the Roxbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
