Lloyd G. Singer, 78, of Newville, passed from this life to eternal rest on Friday, July 23, 2010, at his home.
Born on May 12, 1932, in Newville, the son of the late Raymond M. and Ethel M. Deshong Singer
.
Lloyd was a U.S. Army Veteran and also served in the Carlisle National Guard Detachment for two years upon discharge from the Army.
Lloyd was a family farmer and he also worked at the former C.H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle, for 28 years, retiring in 1994. However, he was always a farmer at heart.
On July 24, 1982, he married Ms. Janet L. Graham at the Green Spring First Church of God.
Lloyd was an active, life-long member of the Green Spring First Church of God, a member of the Newburg area Men’s Chorus, and a collector of two cylinder John Deer tractors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling with friends, serving his church, and having fun with his John Deer tractors.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Janet; one step-daughter, Debbie A. (Randy) Heckendorn of Carlisle; two grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Heckendorn, both of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters; Estlene Weaver, Anna Tanner, and Mabel Besore.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Rev. John Byers and Rev. Phillip Steele will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Thursday, at the funeral home.
