Lloyd H. Heller, Jr., 75, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019, from the result of an automobile accident.
He was born January 29, 1944 in Shippensburg. Lloyd was a son of the late Lloyd H., Sr. and M. Roselene Robertson Heller.
Lloyd was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg. Mr. Heller started out teaching history and geography at Big Spring High School and then went on to teach history, social studies, and family living classes in the Shippensburg School district. He was the assistant athletic director and a guidance counselor when he retired. He graduated from the Shippensburg High School in 1961 and from Shippensburg University in 1965, where he also earned his Master’s Degree. He was Chairman of the Shippensburg Athletic Hall of Fame, a member of the PA State Athletics Directors Association, the PA State Educational Association and the PA Association of School Retirees. Lloyd coached 7th and 8th grade basketball at Big Spring and Shippensburg Schools.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, M. Kay Billman Heller, whom he married August 20, 1966; one son, Andrew B. Heller and his wife Stacey of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Elaine K. Siles and her husband Henry of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Cole J. and Brandon L. Heller and Jack H. and Samuel O. Siles; three siblings, Linda R. Heller of Orrstown, Roger G. Heller and his wife Nadine, of Falls Church, VA and Barbara A. Orban and her husband John, of Crossville, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg. Officiating will be Pastor Bruce Levy and the Rev. Pamela J. Carnes. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the church.
