Linda Naugle Dickinson, 77, of Shippensburg passed away the morning of Thursday, October 17, 2024 after a courageous 27-year battle with cancer.

She was born on September 22, 1947 in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Ross A. and Louise Hoch Naugle. She married Donald C. Dickinson on June 14, 1970.

Linda was a 1965 graduate of Shippensburg Senior High School where she was valedictorian, concertmaster, and a majorette. She then obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in English and French from Shippensburg University in 1968 and Master’s Degree in American Literature from Penn State University in 1969. She taught English at Chambersburg Area High School until 1973, retiring to full-time Mom status. Later, she returned to the workforce as a clerk for Weaver’s Cut-rate in Shippensburg; church secretary for Middle Spring Presbyterian Church; legal secretary for Mark, Weigle and Perkins law firm; and finally, retiring in 2012, as a legal secretary for Hoskinson and Wenger law firm.

Linda was a longtime, active member of Messiah United Methodist Church, where she was the founding director of the Cherub Choir and Handbell Choirs, and a member of the Chancel Choir. Linda was extremely musically inclined and was the matriarch and alto of the Dickinson Family Singers. She was a member of the Towne Singers and Shippensburg University Community Orchestra. Alongside her husband, Linda started the Shippensburg Community Food Bank, something she was very passionate about. They provided this service to the community for 23 years, before passing it on to Shippensburg United Presbyterian Church and subsequently King’s Kettle.

In addition to her husband of 54 years, she is survived by three children, Matthew (Angela) Dickinson of Palmyra, Todd (Corinna) Dickinson of Mt. Joy, and Beth (Dawn Abraham) Dickinson of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Annie, Emma, Grace, Aiden, and Levi Dickinson; and three siblings, Nancy (Paul) Jacobs of Marietta, GA, Carol Shonk of Quarryville, and David (Linda) Naugle of Mt. Holly Springs.
