Linda Ciavarella

June 2, 1937 — March 29, 2023

Linda Lou Harclerode Ciavarella, 85, of Shippensburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Silver Spring Personal Care Home in Mechanicsburg, with her loving family by her side. Born June 2, 1937 in Everett, PA, she was the daughter of the late Brady R. and Velma M. (Foor) Harclerode.

Linda was a 1955 graduate of Everett Area High School. After graduating, Linda remained in Everett where she was introduced to her future husband, Michael A. Ciavarella. In 1964, Linda and Michael moved to Shippensburg where he was hired as a professor at Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg University). She was a member of the Shippensburg University Faculty Wives Club, P.E.O. International, the Shippensburg Civic Club, the Council of Catholic Women, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Linda enjoyed bus trips to see plays and musicals. She was an avid bridge player; and she enjoyed word-search puzzles, gardening, and refinishing furniture.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and a devout Catholic. She was an amazing cook whose meatballs were the most anticipated part of every family reunion. She was a humble person who lived her faith by serving and giving to others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. The most enjoyable times throughout her life were the ones spent with family.

Linda is survived by two sons, Michael A. (Christine) Ciavarella, II, of Carlisle, and Mark A. (Veronica) Ciavarella, of Williamsport; one sister, Judith (John) Sheeder of Hopewell, and one brother, Michael (Margie) Harclerode of (Bedford); many nieces and nephews; and three step-grandchildren, Matthew, Marissa (Lane), and Melanie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Michael A. Ciavarella, Sr., and her siblings Robert, Shirley, Patsy, Terry, Brady, Gerard, and Gary.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in Shippensburg. The Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 PM with a visitation following from 6:00-8:00 PM with Father Kenneth Smith as celebrant. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, with Father Allan Wolfe and Father Robert Yohe as concelebrants. Immediately following, burial will be at Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the care shown to her by the compassionate staff at Silver Spring Personal Care Home in Mechanicsburg, including the home’s Administrator Dave, her nurses Deb and Stacy, and the nurses from Residence Hospice.
