Lewis Freemont Mixell, 80, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Newvville, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in St. Petersburg.
Born June 17, 1930, he was a son of the late Frank D. and Hazel Holtry Mixell.
He was retired from The Moody Bible Institute, where he served seven years. Prior to moving to Florida Lewis was an equipment operator for the PA highways. He is well remembered in St. Pete for his Christian missionary work. Lewis worked as a lay minister at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. He was also active in the local food bank allocations.
He is survived by two sons; Ray T. Mixell of Martinsburg, WV, and Phillip L. Mixell of St. Petersburg, FL, two daughters; Hope Mixell Alan of Mocksville, NC, and Stephanie R. Kauffman of Carlisle, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and 2 Sisters; Crystal Morgan of York and Patsy Varner of Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Grace Mixell, and three brothers; Myron, Dean, and Lester Mixell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Oscar Motilal. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services Wednesday morning in the funeral home.
