Lewis Eugene Barmont, 89, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sunday, August 23, 1931 in Shippensburg, he was the son of the late Lewis W. and Edna M. Bard Barmont.
Lewis was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from SKF Industries. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and providing transportation for the Mennonite community.
Lewis was a soft spoken, generous and compassionate man, always willing to offer a hand to anyone when needed. His laughter could light a room and his humor was witty and often unexpected. He made friends easily as his personality would draw people to him. He will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Lewis is survived by one son, Ted E. Barmont and his companion, Ronda Coy, Newburg; four grandchildren, Dustin E. (Meghan) Barmont, Fayetteville, Seth W. Barmont and Damian L. Barmont, both of Shippensburg and Samantha J. Barmont, Newburg; 10 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Haddiee Spidle, Mechanicsburg, Olive Johnson, Newville, and Berneda Highlands, Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine M. “Kitty” Boyle Barmont who passed away March 30, 2003; and two sisters, June VanScyoc and Delores Dehart.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Dale A. Detweiler officiating. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A viewing will be held Tuesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
