Lester William Motter, 94, of Shippensburg, went home to be with the Lord, on the morning of Friday, November 27, 2020, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 5, 1926, in Newville, the son of the late Floyd and Emma (Nenninger) Motter. Lester married his second wife, Emma Jane (Fogelsanger) Ocker, on June 11, 2011, at Christian Bible Fellowship Church in Newville.
Lester farmed throughout his life, both dairy and crops, selling his dairy cows in 1985, but continued to work his land until 2000. Lester also worked at Carlisle Tire and Wheel for thirteen years until 1974, and in his younger years, drove a school bus.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, watching NASCAR, bowling, and participated in tractor pulls. Lester liked to listen to folk, country, and Christian music; and had a special affinity for dogs, having had one or many throughout his entire life.
Lester loved the Lord and was an active member of the Christian Bible Fellowship Church, serving on the trustee board and as a deacon. He set a wonderful example for his family on how to live a fulfilling spiritual and faithful life.
Lester is survived by his wife of nine years, Emma Jane of Shippensburg; his son, Gerald W. Motter of Newville; three grandsons, Brian W. Motter and wife Pamela of Newville, Benjamin S. Motter and wife Melissa of Newville, and Travis M. Motter and wife Emily of Shippensburg; ten great grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Lindsey, Branson, Corbin, Easton, Dakari, Kailan, Zion, and Indigo; and his sister, Grace McKeehan of Newville.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane (Culbertson) Motter, who died in 2007.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Christian Bible Fellowship Church at 49 Stamy Road, Newville, PA 17241. Pastor Jim Moats will officiate. Interment will follow in the Centerville Memorial Park. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the church.
