Lester Daihl

Lester L. “Pooch” Daihl, 74, of 12118 Mountain Road, Orrstown, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sunday, September 26, 1937 in Roxbury, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary Swanger Daihl.
Lester retired from McClure Co., Harrisburg, where he was a member of the Local 520 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He was a 1955 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, after graduating he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies farm team as a catcher.
Lester was a 52 year Charter member of the Lurgan Township Lions Club, a member of the Orrstown Masonic Lodge # 262 F & AM, a life member of the Valley Forest # 145 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, a member of the Shippensburg Fish and Game Association and a member of the NRA.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years Delores J. Kyper Daihl, Orrstown, two daughters, Deborah K. Heckman and her husband Jeffrey and Amy Daihl all of Shippensburg, three granddaughters, Angela R. Newman, King George, VA, Brandi M. Hershey and Grace E. Daihl-Gochenauer both of Shippensburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David L. Daihl who died January 8, 2007, two brothers, George and Thomas Daihl and one sister, Pauline Wenger.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dale H. Miller Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Fishing Derby c/o Lurgan Township Lions Club, 13978 Cumberland Highway, Orrstown, PA 17244.
