Leroy Jones

LeRoy J. Jones, Sr., 97, resident of Chambers Pointe, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, September 26, 2021.

He was born on June 28, 1924 in Shippensburg, a son of the late Jesse F. and Leora M. (Booz) Jones.

LeRoy retired in 1986 from SKF Industries as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church, where he was a past Lay Visitor, Lay Leader, was involved in the Men’s Bible Study Class, and many other church committees. LeRoy was very handy and could fix just about anything. He also loved taking care of his lawn and golfing.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah C. (Alan) Rhinehart; one son, LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Kristoffer Rhinehart, Justin Rhinehart, Scott Rhinehart, Kathryn Ott, Rebekah Stringham, Timothy Jones, Emily Drudul, and Andrew Jones; 16 great-grandchildren; two siblings, John W. Jones and Ethel L. Palmer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances E. (Neff) Jones who passed away on August 28, 2018. Also preceding him in death are three sisters, M. Louise (Piper) Karper, Beatrice Waggoner, and Bernita Bistline; and one brother, Chester B. Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Messiah United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. There will also be a half hour visitation in the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
