Leonard R. “Lenny” Neil, Sr. 61 of Airport Road, Shippensburg, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his home.
Born Tuesday, March 6, 1951 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late William C. “Chet” Neil and Ruth Ellen Fields Neil of Shippensburg.
Lenny was a 1970 graduate of Shippensburg Area Senior High School, he was the owner and operator of Neil’s Garage in Shippensburg. Lenny was a member of the South Mountain Brethren in Christ Church and the Hub City Club. He loved the outdoors, playing softball and was an avid hunter.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 12 years, Melanie Sue Sprank Neil of Shippensburg, three sons, Leonard R. “Lenny” Neil Jr. and his companion Tonya S. Helm, Shippensburg, William Cory Neil, Hagerstown, MD., and Benjamin D. Neil, and one daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Neil both of Shippensburg, two grandsons, Dacota A. Bigler of Newville and Braxton Ray Neil of Shippensburg, one brother, William C. Neil and his wife Phyllis of Oakville and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Joyce Neil Lynch.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg with the Rev. David A. Erisman and the Rev. James O. Bolich officiating. Burial will be private in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc.
