Leonard Baker

Leonard Richard “Lenny” Baker, 74, of Upper Strasburg, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

Born Thursday, July 19, 1945 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Lawrence Steward and Violet Whitsel Baker.

Lenny was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He retired as an Artillery Inspector from Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1999.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and hunted out west several times. Lenny was a member of the Lone Star Hunting Club, Odd Fellows of Upper Strasburg #663, Life member of the Shippensburg Fish and Game Club, and the Durff-Kuhn VFW # 6168, Shippensburg, PA.

Lenny enjoyed collecting antiques, arrow heads, hunting mushrooms, and his beloved cats.

He is survived by one daughter, Stacy Renee (Mike) Cronmiller; one granddaughter, Sydney Ann Cronmiller; three brothers, Larry (Wanda) Baker, Dana (Kim) Baker, and Craig (Casey) Baker; one sister, Sharon (Stephen) Bowers; four nieces, Danyelle Pannebaker, Jordan Baker, Kelsey Baker and Shelby Starr; and one nephew, Jedd Baker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Sally Ann (Knepper) Baker; one son, Matthew Richard Baker who died in 1978; one brother, Rodney George Baker; and one nephew, Todd Stuart Baker.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with Pastor Reuben Egolf officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A viewing will be held Tuesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road, W. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
