Lenore “Lee” Bannon, 71, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on August 8, 1942, in Pottsville, PA, the daughter of the late James Bernard and Lenore Niece McKeon.
Lenore worked for both the Federal Government and the Pennsylvania State Department of Labor and Industry, as a Human Resource Assistant for 17 years, retiring in 2003
She has been a member of the Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg, for seven years and was very active within her church. Lenore performed the functions of a Marriage Encounter Presenter, which is a marriage enrichment program for married church members. She was an avid book lover and she really enjoyed gardening and travel. Lenore loved visiting with her three grandchildren.
Lenore is survived by her husband of 41 years, Michael J. Bannon; her son, Mark Joseph (Allison) Bannon of Jackson, NJ; her brother, James (Elaine) McKeon of Myerstown, PA; three grandchildren, Abigail, Gwyneth, and James Bannon; and three nephews, James, Matthew, and Steven McKeon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, who raised her, Louise Edith Bigler.
A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg. Father David A. Hillier will officiate. Interment will occur in the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 21, 2013.. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at church. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
