Lenetta Mae Myers

August 7, 1935 — February 5, 2025

Shippensburg

Lenetta Mae Oppel Myers, 89, of Shippensburg, departed this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Hazel Wilson Oppel. Lenetta married Thomas K. Myers, Sr. on July 7, 1956. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2021.

Lenetta graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1954. She worked as a seamstress at several factories including the former U-Wanna-Wash Frock Co., R&S Dress Factory, and L’Aiglon. Lenetta was also a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack #117, formerly of Lees Cross Roads.

After many years of factory work, she stayed at home to help take care of her grandchildren. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.

Lenetta loved to sew and enjoyed plastic canvas. She loved the outdoors, especially mowing grass and working with her numerous flowers. Lenetta enjoyed watching gameshows and doing word searches. She was known to love family birthday parties, picnics, and getting together with the family around the holidays.

She was the kindest, sweetest, most self-less woman one would ever meet and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, Maw-Maw, and Ma.

Lenetta is survived by five children, Thomas K. (Queena) Myers, Jr., Lowanda Bard, Wendell (Donna) Myers, Sr., Roger (Deann Sterling) Myers, and Hope (Eric) McKee; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way); one great-great-granddaughter; Tiffany Diehl, who was like a daughter and grandmother to her two children; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
