Lee Nye

Lee C. Nye, 63, of Shippensburg, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Manor Care, Chambersburg.
Born Monday, February 7, 1949 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Helen Elizabeth Clippinger Nye.
Lee was a 1969 graduate of the Shippensburg High School and completed a course of studies at Carlisle Commercial College.
When he was 16 years old, he began working part-time at Hockersmith’s Grocery Store, Shippensburg where he thoroughly enjoyed working and meeting the customers where he formed lifelong friendships. Lee worked in the office at the Valley Baking Company where he worked full time for many years and later retired from the United Telephone Company in Carlisle after 20 years of service. After retirement Lee completed classes in clock and watch repair and operated his own business, which he enjoyed, up until his illness.
Lee was a life-long devoted member of Grace United Church of Christ in Shippensburg. He loved studying the history of the church and was always willing and eager to serve in any capacity. He was currently serving on the Consistory and has served many times over the years.
He was a member of the NRA, Antique Automobile Association and the Mayflower Society. Lee was well loved and respected, and he will be missed by all.
Surviving is a sister, Gay N. (Mrs. Brian) Somers, Orrstown, one niece, Courtney (Mrs. Shane) Oyler, Chambersburg, one uncle and Aunt William and Ruth Nye, Newburg, one great nephew and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg, with the Rev. George W. Heckard officiating.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the church.
