Lee W. Chamberlin 87, of Shippensburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
Lee was a son of the late Adam Reese and Mary Benita (Fogelsonger) Chamberlin and was born June 10, 1934 in Middle Spring. He grew up on the family farm and had a wonderful childhood with all his brothers and sisters. Lee was the youngest of 10 siblings. After graduating from Shippensburg High School in 1952, he joined the Navy a few days later and served his country from 1952 until 1956.
Lee married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jane E. Bard on October 17, 1953. They were married for 68 years. Together, they had two sons, Randall Chamberlin and Michael Chamberlin and his wife Lori, all of Shippensburg, one daughter, Debra Hile and her husband William of Amberson. He was the proud Grandpa of four grandchildren, Hunter Chamberlin and his wife Morgan, Jessica Kreigline and her husband Ethan, Ransom Hile and Tanner Chamberlin. One sister, Marie Goodhart of Newville also survives Lee. In addition to his parents Lee is preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Wendell, Jay and Glenn Chamberlin along with four sisters, Vada Diehl, Mary Stimeling, Fredith Chamberlin, and Janet Sandy.
Lee loved working on and fixing things, and after he was discharged from the Navy, he began working at Squires Appliances in Shippensburg where he was an appliance repairman for over 30 years. His love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors led to his venture when he took over the former Parr’s Sporting Goods in Shippensburg. He operated Chamberlin’s Sports Center from 1978 until 1985. Lee finished his working career at Shippensburg University and retired in 1996.
After retirement, Lee and Jane enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. They loved spending their winters in Florida camping with their friends. Lee was active at the Shippensburg First Church of God where he was a member for close to 70 years. He was a member of the Shippensburg American Legion, VFW and Hub City Club. One of his greatest pleasures in life was taking care of his property, and he was very proud of his garden, flower beds and landscaping.
Lee will be greatly missed by his family, friends and everyone who had the pleasure to know him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Shippensburg First Church of God. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Hornbaker. Burial with military honors conducted by the Oscar M.
