Lamont Richard Hardy, Sr., 82, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born in Harrisburg, on June 5, 1941, the son of the late Francis M. and Freda (Brubaker) Hardy. Lamont married Delores Jane Mull on June 22, 1968.
Lamont worked as an examiner-cutter, at what was the former Pittsburgh Plate Glass factory in Mt. Holly Springs, retiring in 2007.
In his free time he enjoyed golfing, trains, fishing, and going on rides in the mountain. Lamont liked simply spending time outdoors, doing yard work, and tinkering around with his lawn tractor. He also loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, he is survived by his daughter, Paula R. Ocker and husband Timothy of Shippensburg; his son, Lamont R. Hardy, Jr. and wife Julie of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Jacob R., Trey M., and Anna G. Hardy, all of Shippensburg; and two nephews, Jeff Adkins of Chambersburg; and Steve Adkins of Mercersburg.
In addition to his biological parents, Lamont was preceded in death by his step-father, Richard W. Berkheimer; his sister, Linda Bechtel; and a nephew, Orville Adkins.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Dylan Reed will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home.
