Lacey Noel Horst, 26, of Shippensburg passed away in her home Thursday, October 2, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
Diagnosed with cancer two and a half years ago, Lacey never gave up. She never complained. She maintained a brave and optimistic outlook for the future, enduring countless surgeries, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hospitalizations and the ever present pain. She handled every difficulty with the utmost grace and dignity. Lacey was an amazing person, enriching the lives of those who knew her well, but above all else she was a deeply devoted and loving mother. Nicholas, the light and love of her life, gave her strength and courage each and every day. He was everything to her --just as Lacey was, and is, everything to Nicholas.
Born December 28, 1987 in Landstuhl, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, Lacey was a daughter of Tamula 'Tammy' J. Repp Smith of Shippensburg and Dean D. Horst. She is survived by her son, Nicholas Ethan Neikirk, and sister, Lindsey Erin Horst both of Shippensburg, step-father Stewart L. Smith of Fairfield and grandparents, Thomas and Doris Repp of Clear Spring, MD.
She was a graduate of Hagerstown Community College where she received an A.A. in Psychology and an A.S. in Business Administration and was pursuing a degree at Wilson College.
She worked at IOT Systems, LLC., in Williamsport, Maryland.
Lacey's life will be celebrated with a small private family service.
