Korie E. Bender, 74, of Shippensburg, passed away on August 3, 2014, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
He was born on August 13, 1939, in Belleville, a son of the late Daniel W. and Arie (Peachey) Bender. Korie married Ms. Elizabeth “Lizzie” Kanagy Bender on November 19, 1959.
Korie worked in the Furniture Restoration trade for 40 years of his life and was a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Living Faith Congregation, Shippensburg.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lizzie; four children, Levi Bender & wife Helen of St. Petersburg, FL, Lucy Mae & husband Joel Beaner of New Paris, D. Wayne Bender & wife Marie of Bedford, and J. William Bender & wife Christine of Belsano; seven grandchildren, Tonia & husband Jason, Christopher, Emily & husband Daniel, Carly, Jasmine, Daniel, and Rebecca; three great grandchildren, Ashlyn Grace, Aidyn, and Raymond; one brother, Moses Bender; two sisters, Katie (Bender) Yoder and Emma (Bender) Peight.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Reuben; one brother-in-law; and one-sister-in-law.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Living Faith Congregation. The church ministry will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church as well.
His family kindly requests the omission of flowers, however, memorial contributions may be made to the Living Faith Congregation at 297 Goodhart Rd. Shippensburg, PA 17257
