Kirk J. Gray, 57, of Newburg, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 30, 2017 in the Hershey Medical Center.
He was born March 6, 1960 in Richmond, TX. Kirk was a son of the late Billy J. and Vera M. Schonert Gray.
Kirk, known as Captain Kirk by his much loved colleagues, was a truck driver for Stevens Transport, Inc., Dallas TX. He was a 1978 graduate of Needville High School, Needville, TX. Kirk was a member of the Newburg-Hopewell Volunteer Fire Company and was an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Tina M. Gardner Gray, four children, Lee J. (Lori) Gray of Alvin, TX, Chancellor J. Gray of Newburg, Agusta G. Gray of Shippensburg and Gardner J. Gray of Newburg, one granddaughter, Krissa M. Gray of Alvin, TX, one sister, Cindy L. (Edward Lopez) Gray of Mountain City, TX, one brother, Donald G. (Lisa) Gray of Needville, TX, a mother-in-law, Mary G. Gardner of Newburg, nine nieces and two nephews, Chelsea and Brynn Gray, Veronica Lopez, Kayla and Nicole Fink, Mary, Anna and Jacob DelSavio, Taylor (Tyler) Alwine Fairchild, and Ellie and Max Jonas and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryce A. Gray.
A viewing will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg with funeral services from 6-7 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Spellman. A private burial will be held in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Birth of Freedom, C/O The Boy Scouts of America Hidden Valley Camp, 1 Baden Powell Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
