Kimberly Martin-Shope

March 11, 1959 — December 7, 2022

Kimberly R. Martin-Shope, 63, lifelong resident of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at her home.

She was born on March 11, 1959, in Chambersburg, daughter of the late Alvin “Ike” and Goldie E. (Zimmerman) Martin. Kim was a 1977 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School. She married G. Alan Shope on May 13, 2002, in Jamaica.

Earlier in her life Kim worked as a dialysis technician at U.S. Renal Care, Chambersburg, for fourteen years. After leaving the dialysis field Kim worked at and became a very well known and loved bartender and waitress at several local Shippensburg establishments.

Kim was always so upbeat and very outgoing. A smiling, friendly face. Kim was always ready with a kind word or would go out of her way to ask about you and how you were doing. She was a bright star. A ray of sunshine. Never met a stranger. A friend to everyone who was fortunate to cross her path.

At home Kim was very hospitable to her company. She loved to cook and took pride in keeping a well-appointed and tidy house. Kim was very much a sun-lover who enjoyed trips to the beach and simple summer afternoons pool side at home with good food, drink, and most of all good company. In recent years she and Alan enjoyed watching their daughter excel at softball both at the local level as well as traveling tournament ball. Kim really came to get excited for and look forward to the journey.

In addition to her husband of twenty years, Alan, she is survived by her daughter, Miliani Foschia-Shope of Shippensburg; her grandson, McKane Coldsmith of Shippensburg; brother, Alvin Martin, Jr., and wife Kelly of Wilmington, NC; and countless friends.

In addition to her parents, Kim was sadly preceded in death by three children, Tylor L. Henry, Travis E. Henry, and Ruschelle L. Henry.

The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements. As was her wish there will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service. However a celebration of her life is being planned to take place in the spring of 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any organization that helps people deal with pancreatic cancer.
