Kermit Fredrick Wells, 71, of Newburg, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in McVeytown, Mifflin County as a result of a logging accident.
He was born Thursday, May 14, 1942, in Boggs Twp., Centre County. He was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Matilda Meckley Wells.
Kermit was a member of the Carlisle Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He worked as a self employed Logger. He loved history, traveling, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Kathryn E. Holtry Wells, one daughter, Lori J. Wells-Green, of Mt. Airy, six sons; John R. of Lewistown, Clifford L. of Milroy, Kermit “Daniel” of Newport, Phillip L. of Shippensburg, Dave S. and Thomas E. both of Newburg, one brother, Miles King and one sister, Sarah Aikey both of Bellefonte, and 12 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter Wells and William Meckley and a granddaughter Evelyn J. Wells.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg, with Pastor Gerald L. Small officiating. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
