Kent W. Seavers, 81, of Walnut Bottom, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his home.
Born Sunday, August 30, 1931, in Hockersville, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Guy W. and Sodessa P. Brechbiel Seavers.
His working career included Phoenix Iron & Steel, Cumberland Farm Bureau, and Letterkenny Army Depot where he retired from as a Computer Systems Analyst.
Kent enjoyed traveling with his wife to Australia/New Zealand, Bermuda, Caribbean, Canada & Canadian Rockies, Cook Islands, Europe (England, France, Italy, Nice and Venice), Mexico, Panama Canal, Switzerland, Cruise on the Mississippi, and all states except North Dakota and Oregon. He also enjoyed gardening.
He was a 1950 graduate of the Carlisle High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran Flight Captain of the Korean Conflict. Kent was a member of the Shippensburg Chapter of the A.A.R.P. #2525 and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Newville.
He was the husband of Jean Johnson Seavers, the love of his life, to whom he was married for 55 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael Lee Seavers and his wife Kim of Mechanicsburg; a granddaughter Britney Wardecker of Mechanicsburg; and a sister Miriam Mains of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Gilmore B. Seavers and Oren Seavers.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the First United Presbyterian Church, Newville, with Pastor Vern Gauthier officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg.
