Kenneth Stoner

September 26, 1927 — January 23, 2011

Kenneth E. “Whitey” Stoner, Sr. 83, of Shippensburg, went home to his Heavenly Father, Sunday, January 23, 2011 in ManorCare, Carlisle, PA.
Born September 26, 1927 in New Franklin, PA, he was a son of the late Cyrus P. and Lela V. Miller Stoner.
Kenneth served proudly with the United States Army during World War II as part of the Occupational Forces in Korea. After his service with the Army, he worked for various construction companies as a licensed explosive engineer and construction supervisor. He was employed by Trindle Construction, Pizzagelli Construction, Hoosiers Engineering and retired from Boyd Diller Construction in Dillsburg.
After retirement he spent time on his mountain ground, gardening, and working on home projects. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, a member of the NRA and Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 in Shippensburg. He enjoyed walking every day in the local park, and conversations with many of his friends. Whitey attended the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosey M. “Rose” Bowermaster Stoner, five sons: Kenneth E. Stoner, Jr. and his wife Linda of Mechanicsburg, Ronnie E. Stoner and his wife Nancy of Windham, NH, Wayne P. Stoner and his wife Jennifer of Mechanicsburg, Thomas Stoner and his wife Chris of Mokina, IL, and Wayne E. Stoner and his wife Sue of Manhattan, IL, two daughters: Bonnie L. Hockley and her husband Raymond, and Connie Marie Stoner all of Carlisle, one brother, Glen H. Stoner, Sr. of Shippensburg, one sister; Betty Hockensmith and her husband Charles of Chambersburg, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Carl Hosfelt, a grandson, Adam Stoner, and two sisters; Luella and Pauline Weller who are also deceased.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Dennis D. Chisholm. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
