Kenneth R. Reisinger, 87, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on June 10, 1929 in Academia, PA, a son of the late James and Ethel Powell Reisinger. Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Army, inducted on April 10, 1951, transferred to the reserves on October 16, 1951, and honorably discharged on July 19, 1956. He married the former Crene I. Barmont Fleagle on March 7, 1980, in Hagerstown MD.
Kenneth was employed at the former Hoffman Mills, Shippensburg, for forty-two years, retiring in 1992 as a supervisor. He was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg, where he was an elder, adult Sunday School teacher, and choir member. Kenneth was also a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg.
In his free time Kenneth was known to be an expert woodworker. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening. Kenneth enjoyed traveling. He and his family once owned a place in Chincoteague, VA, for many years, where they would spend lots of time on vacation, mostly boating and again, there was always fishing. Kenneth was an excellent fisherman. He also liked watching the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Phillies.
In addition to his wife of thirty-seven years, Crene; two children, Susan (Gregg) Kauffman of Shippensburg and Kenneth R. Reisinger of Mechanicsburg; three step-sons, Arnold (Faye) Fleagle of Amherst, OH, Dennis (Margie) Fleagle of Shippensburg, and Rick (Peggy) Fleagle of Fairfield; one sister, Judy (Bill) Fiedler of Dickson, TN; one brother, Vance Reisinger of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his former spouse with whom he remained friends, Virginia Bietsch Reisinger of Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by two sisters, Jesse Spaeff and Eleanor Blueford, and two brothers, James and Edward Reisinger.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Dr. Arnold R. Fleagle, Pastor George W. Heckard, and Rev. Dr. Robert Seibold will officiate. Interment will follow in the Air Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
