Kenneth Charles Goshorn, 76, of Shippensburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 16, 2023, at his home in Shippensburg surrounded by his family. After 23 years of battling ALS and many other health issues, he is rejoicing and celebrating in heaven!
He was born on January 30, 1947, in Chambersburg, the son of the late Charles L. Goshorn and Phyllis (Comley) Goshorn Albright.
Kenneth worked as a union carpenter and then later was the owner of the Kenneth C. Goshorn Excavating business for 25 years. He was a township supervisor for Southampton Township, Cumberland County for 12 years. He also was the owner of the Goshorn’s Small Engine Repair Shop. He enjoyed farming on the home farm. He was often called a jack of all trades.
Over his years, he was an active member of the Greenvillage Church of God where he was on the church council, and was involved in many church construction projects. Later, he attended the Green Spring Church of God.
He loved to do missionary work and traveled to Haiti, Russia, Kentucky, and New Mexico where he led many trips. He also was involved with the REACH Work Camps held in the summer for youth to help people do home maintenance for those who could not take care of their properties. He had a big heart for other people and was passionate about helping others. He greeted everyone he met with his big smile.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Doris Horn Goshorn of Shippensburg. Three children, Diane Goshorn Wenger and husband Bradley, Cheryl Goshorn Collingsworth and husband William, Michelle Goshorn Shank and husband Chet. Four grandchildren, Trent Wenger and wife Alexis (Martin), Jenell Collingsworth Vogelsong and husband Austin, Wade Shank, and Kara Collingsworth. One great-grandchild, Blakely Wenger. One brother Gerald "Jerry" Goshorn.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Philip Steele and Pastor Matthew Tosten will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
