Kathryn J. “Nanny” Hershey, 83, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Monday, February 5, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Thursday, October 17, 1940 in Oakville, the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Rhoades Proctor.
Kathryn was a 1959 graduate of the Shippensburg High School and past member of the Oakville United Methodist Church. Kathryn spent many years babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as the children of multiple other family members. She was also a longtime secretary and treasurer for Southampton Township Cumberland County. Kathryn enjoyed family gatherings, bowling, and watching her children and grandchildren play sports.
She is survived by her three children, Penny (Shawn) Eckenrode, Beth (Joel) Black, and Franklin (Nicole) Hershey, Jr.; six grandchildren, Shawn (Ursula) Eckenrode, Jr., Heather (fiancé Tanner Huffman) Eckenrode, Jordan Mentzer, Lane Alleman, Zane (fiancé Kara Collingsworth) Hershey, and Kara (fiancé Levi Davidson) Hershey; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin M. Hershey, Sr.; two brothers, Paul Proctor, Sr. and Robert Proctor; and one grandson, Russell Carl Mentzer, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Chaplain Ed Rabenstein officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
