Kathryn Halter

Kathryn Viola Halter, 83, of Shippensburg, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born December 7, 1929 in York, she was a daughter of the late Ira L. and Velva P. Bowers George.

Kathryn was a member of the Oakville United Methodist Church and the First Court Chapter # 470 Order of the Eastern Star, Shippensburg. She retired in 1978 from U-Wanna-Wash Frock Company, and then she worked at both Valley Pride Baking Company and Park Lanes Bowling Alley. Kathryn was a 1947 graduate of Newville High School.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dana L. Halter, Sr., one brother, Lee George, and one sister, Dorothy Graham,

She is survived by one son, Dana L. Halter, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Shippensburg, two sisters, Mary L. Dyarman of Newville, and Darlene E. Kling of Shippensburg, two grandchildren, David M. Halter and Lori C. Farner both of Shippensburg, three great granddaughters, Jayla Farner, and Laney and Lillian Halter.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle at 2 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. John A. Ile, Jr.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Oakville United Methodist Church, 519 Oakville Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
