Kathleen A. “Kath” Varner, 76, of Shippensburg, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Friday, October 3, 1947 she was a daughter of the late William J. and Catherine E. (Connelly) McCans. She married Brinton “BC” Comerer in 1994 and spent many happy years together.
Kath worked as a cook for Blondies in Carlisle for 17 years and as a homemaker for many years before and after. Kath loved animals, gardening, playing on the computer, the casino, yard sales, drinking large mugs of tea, watching old MeTV episodes, and going to the beach or “river house”.
In addition to her husband, Brinton, she leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Martina; a step-daughter Dorene; four grandchildren, Aron, Katie, Aleea, and JJ; three great grandchildren, Lacie, Bramere, and Acyla; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her son William “Bill” Smith and her grandson Kenneth Wagner III.
Kath’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Shippensburg. To honor her final wishes, there will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service at this time. A celebration of life may be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shippensburg Township Park Office at 81 Walnut Bottom Rd, Shippensburg, PA 17257, to help fund the local dog park.
